OUR VISION

Mission: Mississippi Delta GEAR UP Partnership provides a collaboration of resources and funding to school districts to expose scholars to post-secondary education and career options.

Vision: Our vision is that all scholars have equal exposure and access to explore various college and career opportunities.

Through our comprehensive, seven-year partnership grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, we are dedicated to academically preparing over 2,700 students annually from 6th grade through their first year of college. By providing essential services such as tutoring, academic counseling, dual enrollment opportunities, ACT preparation, college visits, internships, career development, and summer camps, we aim to increase college readiness and success.

For districts and educators, we offer federal funding to assist with systematic improvements, targeted resources, family engagement, professional development, enhanced instruction, curriculum resources, and intervention tools. We envision a future where students and parents access to the support and resources needed to navigate the complexities of postsecondary education, and educators have the resources to support them on that journey.

Through strategic partnerships with ten school districts and other stakeholders, we facilitate in-class and extended-day tutoring, homework assistance, mentoring, and immersive college exploration experiences. Our program extends beyond academics to include family engagement events focused on college applications, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities.

At MS Delta GEAR UP, we believe that education transforms lives and communities. By fostering a culture of academic excellence and empowerment, we strive to create a pathway to success for our students, equipping them with the skills and confidence to thrive in higher education and beyond.

This vision statement reflects the program's commitment to equity, student-centered support, and preparing students for lifelong success through education.

“The GEAR UP program has afforded our students with the opportunity to become exposed to college and universities which has increased their eagerness to gain a post secondary education. Our parents have greatly benefited from the parent workshops and sessions around  college requirements and how to support the students when they are not at school.”
